Around 100 rioters set ablaze the residence of Indian National Congress MLA Akhanda Srivasa Murthy. The mob then went on to attack the DJ Halli police station, and torched vehicles parked there. The mob was protesting against an alleged Facebook comment on the Holy Prophet of Islam by a relative of the MLA. The riot which lasted for around 3 hours, claimed three people lives and injured around 60 police personnel, making the Bangalore City Police to bring the force to get situation under control.
